Cholesterol
Information

So, just what are the possible consequences of high cholesterol?
Every cell in your body needs a couple of things: oxygen and nutrition. Without those your cells can't survive.
Oxygen and nutrition are moved around your body in your blood.
The blood actually serves as delivery man and clean-up crew. It delivers the oxygen and nutrition to the cells
(via the arteries) and then takes away the junk (via the veins).
Obviously a healthy heart is required to pump your blood all day long, every day, as efficiently as possible.
This is where potential problems come in.
If you have an excess of cholesterol your arteries can become narrowed, even blocked in extreme cases. And if
your arteries are narrow, or blocked, the supply of blood to your heart can be reduced. Think of it like standing
on a garden hose: the water just won't flow as freely, or even at all.
That's why coronary heart disease can result from high cholesterol.
Other areas of your body can be affected by such blockages. The main possibilities are:
- Aneurysm
- Atherosclerois
- Stroke
